Brazil's Pampa biome lost about 28 percent of its natural vegetation between 1985 and 2023, making it the biome with the greatest loss. By comparison, the Amazon biome lost 14 percent of its natural vegetation coverage. The Amazon and Pampa biome have the largest and smallest public forest area respectively.
