According to a survey on spending habits in Singapore in light of the hike in goods and services tax (GST) conducted in February 2022, more than 50 percent of respondents who said that they would maintain or reduce their spending, stated that they would cut down on dining out and buying take-away. Cutting back on food expenditure, be it dining out or food delivery orders, were the leading ways in which Singaporean consumers planned to reduce their spending.
