U.S. points of contacts of online fraud reported to the FTC 2022
In 2022, 22 percent of fraud victims in the United States were contacted via text. Phone call fraud represented the second most common point of contact between fraudulent actors and the U.S. public. In contrast, 19 percent of all frauds reported during the year took place via e-mail communications. Social media frauds comprised over 10 percent of all reported frauds in 2022.
