Production volume of smallholder tobacco estates in Indonesia 2017-2023
In 2023, the total production of smallholder tobacco estates in Indonesia was estimated at around 237 thousand metric tons. Indonesia has one of the highest smoking rates in the world and is one of the biggest producers of tobacco worldwide. The tobacco industry is one of Indonesia's largest contributors to employment, economic growth, and tax revenue collection. Most tobaccos in Indonesia was produced by smallholder estates.
