As of June 2022, there were over 2.78 thousand crewless convenience stores in South Korea. Crewless and hybrid convenience stores first started taking off during the COVID-19 pandemic and the number of stores have surged since then. Crewless or hybrid stores offer self check-out counters and are usually equipped with a higher number of security cameras than other convenience stores.
