Sales volume of Chinese patent drugs in conventional pharmacies in China 2017-2020
In 2020, conventional pharmacies sold 5.94 billion boxes of Chinese patent drugs, representing a drop of over six percent from the previous year. Although the sales volume of Chinese patent drugs in brick-and-mortar pharmacies remained generally stable before 2019, the revenue generated by the sale increased continuously before 2020. Chinese patent drugs are highly popular in China, as many believe that traditional Chinese medicine has fewer or no side effects.
