NHS-covered generic drugs consumption share in Italy 2022, by active ingredient
In 2022, the sales volume of class A generic drugs in Italy was equal to approximately 319.7 million packages. This statistic shows the share of the most consumed class A generic drugs in the country based on the active ingredient present in these drugs. According to the data, pantoprazole was the most popular active ingredient among generic drugs which cost is covered by the Italian National Healthcare Service, accounting for seven percent of total sales volume. Pantoprazole is used in the treatment of stomach ulcers.
