Class C generic drugs expenditure distribution in Italy by active ingredient 2022
In 2022, the most common active ingredient in terms of expenditure among class C generic drugs in Italy was tadalafil. Tadalafil, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and pulmonary arterial hypertension, accounted for 16.6 percent of all expenditures on this class of drugs. Sildenafil citrate and lorazepam followed, with 12.7 percent and 12.3 percent of sales value of drugs which cost must be covered entirely by private citizens, respectively.
