Pumped hydro storage capacity in the EU 2020, by facility status
As of 2020, there were more than 48 gigawatts worth of pumped hydropower storage capacity in operation in the European Union (including the UK). At this time, announced projects combined for an additional 20 gigawatts of capacity, while facilities under construction would add some 2.4 gigawatts of pumped hydro storage capacity to the EU.
