Cost of medicines for treating mental health disorders in Brazil 2022, by category
In 2022, medicines for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) had the highest cost compared to the median global prices for the same drug in Brazil among selected categories of medicines for treating mental health conditions, with an estimated deviation of more than 100 percent. Medicines for treating bipolar disorder followed, costing approximately 96 percent more in Brazil than the global median price for the same medication. Meanwhile, medicine used for stress treatment was nearly 10 percent cheaper in Brazil relative to the global median price. That year, Brazil had an overall mental health infrastructure index score of 76.04 points out of 100.
