Ultra-contemporary art is a sub-segment of the contemporary art market focusing on artists under 40 years old. In the first half of 2023, the United States, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom accounted for the highest sales of ultra-contemporary art worldwide. Between January and June 2023, public auctions in the U.S. represented nearly a third of revenue by ultra-contemporary artists. Meanwhile, Hong Kong and the UK accounted for 31 percent and 20 percent of that sub-segment's revenue, respectively.
