In 2022, 86 percent of U.S. adults expressed concern about plastic waste's impact on marine life. This made this issue to biggest concern surrounding the negative impacts of plastic waste. Plastic wastes impacts on water quality was also a significant concern for respondents, with 76 percent sharing this concern. Meanwhile, three-quarters of respondents were concerned about plastic waste's impacts on human health, an increase from 67 percent in 2020.
