Plastic waste leakage to the environment from the European Union 2019-2060
The European Union was responsible for some 0.9 million metric tons of plastic leakage to the environment in 2019. It is projected that annual leaked macro- and microplastics to the environment attributable to the the European Union will decrease over the coming decades. Mismanaged plastic waste is a major source of plastic leakage to the environment.
