New employee contracts and social security Germany 2021

In 2021, there were 9.89 million newly employed people with employment contracts in Germany. This was a 1.37 million decrease from 2019 and a 50 thousand decrease from 2020. The total number of contracted employees who contributed to social security decreased to 32.66 million in 2021.

The number of jobs does not correspond to the number of people who are obliged to make social security contributions, these figures are shown in other tables in the publication.
