BA-X labor market demand index Germany 2021-2023

The BA-X labor index tracks the demand for manpower in the labor market. It gathers the data from job openings rather than surveys or other assessments. In January 2023, the BA-X labor index still lay at 127, the same as the previous month. Although this indicates demand for labor has fallen, the index is still higher than at the beginning of 2021.

The BA-X is based on job applications that have been reported to the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (the federal labor agency in Germany). Included are all jobs in the primary labor market that are not directly facilitated or supported by the BA itself, as well as jobs for freelancers, the self-employed, and jobs coming from private employment agencies.
