Between 2020 and 2023, job vacancies in the construction industry in Canada have fluctuated significantly. In late 2021 and 2022, there has been some worry about shortages of low-wage workers, which also affected the construction industry. During that period, there has been indeed an increase in the number of open positions in the construction industry, peaking at 94,530 open positions in April 2022. The construction occupations with most vacancies were mainly blue-collar positions.
