Medium through which journalists were targeted for online harassment Canada 2021
More than half of Canadian media workers experienced online harassment in 2021. More than half (58 percent) stated that they had experienced harassment through their professional emails. 47 percent said that they were targeted on their professional Twitter account, while 34 percent stated they were attacked on the comment section of an online news article. 26 percent also reported being targeted on their professional Facebook account. The harassment was not exclusive to professional accounts, as 23 percent stated that their were targeted on their personal Facebook account, while 22 percent were targeted on their personal Twitter account.
