The rate of poverty among children is an indicator of income poverty. There has a been an increase in the rate of children at risk of poverty in Germany from 2020 to 2022, it currently lies at 21.6 percent.

Results are from the micra census. From 2011, the results are based on projections from the 2011 census. The change to a new sample in the reporting year 2016 as well as special effects in the context of population development mean that there is only a limited comparability from 2016 with previous years. Calculations done by IT.NRW.

¹ The results from the microcensus from the survey year 2020 have limited comparability to previous years due to a methological change. The survey year 2020 is also affected by restrictions in the survey and should therefore not be used for time comparisons with subsequent years.
