France: unemployment rate in overseas regions

Between 2008 and 2019, the unemployment rate in the French overseas region of French Guiana increased by four points, from 30.1 to 34.1 percent. In La Réunion, after an increase in 2013, unemployment had returned to its 2008 level by 2019, at 32.9 percent. In Guadeloupe and Martinique, the rate had slightly decreased during this period. The unemployment rate in the overseas regions tends to be much higher than in the regions of metropolitan France.
