According to a survey conducted in 2022 on gender equality in Japan, 81.6 percent of participants were not familiar with the term "toxic masculinity". Less than four percent reported to know the term and its meaning.
"Toxic masculinity" refers to a set of stereotypical manly behaviors with a negative impact on other individuals and society.
