Projected regional capacity of hydrogen production in France 2030
In 2022, France set the ambitious goal of reaching a carbon-free hydrogen production of roughly 1.1 million tons per year by 2030. The production of hydrogen will be distributed throughout French territory, in a range of 15 to 25 hydrogen production sites per region. The region Provence-Alps-Azure Coast was projected to have the largest hydrogen generation capacity in 2030, with 183 kilotons of hydrogen produced per year, followed by the Upper France region. In comparison, the Center-Loire Valley region was forecast to produce only 1.5 kilotons of clean hydrogen per year by 2030.
