In 2019, more than a quarter (27.1 percent) of the population of French Guiana between the ages of 16 and 25 without a diploma were not pursuing their education. This figure was lower in other French overseas regions, such as La Réunion (14.2 percent), or Guadeloupe (9.2 percent). Compared to metropolitan France, these overseas regions were the ones where people of this age most often dropped out without a diploma, with the exception of Corsica and Hauts-de-France.
