Comparisons have been made relative to households that are based in metropolitan areas, have a higher income, have a larger proportion of its population aged under the age of 55 and attained higher education, respectively. Remote/rural LGAs are defined as LGAs with a majority of dwellings located in a remote/rural area. Lower income LGAs are defined as those with the majority of households with a weekly income of below $1,000. Elderly LGAs are defined as those with a majority of its population aged 55 and over. Less educated LGAs are defined as those where the majority of the population have not attained higher education (including university, TAFE Certificates III and IV).
