Value of banknotes in circulation in Egypt 2004-2023, by denomination
As of 2023, the amount of currency in circulation (excluding subsidiary denominations) in Egypt reached around 1.08 trillion Egyptian pounds (roughly 22.4 billion U.S. dollars), with the 200 Egyptian pound bill making the majority. Introduced in 2007, the 200 Egyptian pound bills in circulation amounted to 3.02 billion Egyptian pounds in 2007, growing to 700.2 billion Egyptian pounds in 2023. Overall, all currency denominations in circulation increased in Egypt between 2004 and 2023.
