water levels at Lake Mead dropped to a low of 1,041 feet above sea level. The lowest point at which the Hoover Dam can produce power is approximately 950 feet above sea level.
The Hoover Dam had a power generation capacity of roughly 1,080 megawatts (MW) as of June 2023. The Hoover Dam has a nameplate capacity of some 2,080 megawatts (MW), but the severe drought in the Western United States has decreased how much power it can produce in recent years, with generation capacity dropping to just 810.5 MW in February 2023. Lake Mead fuels the Hoover Dam, but water levels there have plummeted over the last three years. In July 2022, Electricity generation capacity of the Hoover Dam in the United States from 2020 to 2023, by month (in megawatts)
