The value of money supply M1, M2, and M3 amounted to more than 4.9 trillion, 6.4 trillion, and 6.5 trillion Czech koruna, respectively, in Czechia as of December 2023. The money supply is the amount of monetary assets available in an economy. M1, called the "narrow money", includes currency in circulation (banknotes and coins) and overnight deposits. It depicts the value of the most liquid components of the money supply. M2, or the "intermediate money" includes M1 (currency in circulation and overnight deposits) and deposits with maturity of maximum two years and deposits redeemable at notice of maximum three months. M3 called the "broad money" includes M2 (M1 plus deposits with maturity of maximum two years and deposits redeemable at notice of a maximum of three months) and marketable instruments issued by Monetary Financial Institutions such as repurchase instruments or money market fund units.

The source added the following information: The Eurosystem has defined a narrow aggregate (M1), an "intermediate" aggregate (M2) and a broad aggregate (M3). These aggregates differ with regard to the degree of moneyness of the Czech residents' assets included. Table shows the definitions of monetary aggregates using the definition of liabilities issued by the MFI sector. As noted above, these aggregates include only positions of residents in Czechia which are held with MFIs located in Czechia. Holdings by Czech residents of liquid assets denominated in foreign currency can be close substitutes for CZK-denominated assets. Therefore, the monetary aggregates include such assets if they are held with MFIs located in Czechia.
