Japan: share of food companies producing for store brands

In the fiscal year 2022, the majority of businesses in the food manufacturing industry trading with retailers in Japan produced products for private labels, as revealed in an annually conducted survey. The share of businesses manufacturing for retailer's brands on a contract basis declined slightly in recent years but remained above 60 percent.
