Payment method usage compared to one year ago in Japan 2022
According to a survey conducted in December 2022, consumers in Japan used cash less frequently than a year ago. Around 40 percent reported that their use of cash had declined, while it remained unchanged for 53 percent of respondents. At the same time, close to 60 percent of consumers said they used QR code payment apps more often.
