In Canada, as in other countries, the labor participation rate declines with age. Regardless of birth cohort, the decline in the participation rate is relatively slight between the ages of 45 and 55, then accelerates to age 65, and continues to decline at a slower pace until age 75. At that age, 11.45 percent of men born between 1946 and 1955 are still in the labor force, compared with six percent of men born between 1920 and 1929.
