According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2023, around 93 percent of respondents in their twenties stated that they had bought digital goods or merchandise related to a character within the last year. While the purchase rate varied by age group, it was relatively high among all respondents regardless of age. The age group with the lowest purchase rate were children between the ages of three and nine years, of whom about 78 percent had bought digital character goods.
