The annual number of passengers transported by the public transit company in Rotterdam, Netherlands (RET) increased gradually between 2013 and 2019. In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the transit ridership in the most important port city in Europe dropped by 46 percent compared with 2019 levels. In 2021, RET's ridership increased slightly and stood at 99 million passengers.
