Around 23 thousand visitors landed in the Antarctica during the 2021/2022 season. In the same period, there were no tourists traveling by cruise. In the season before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the amount of tourists making landings in this region surpassed 55 thousand, which shows a decrease of 41.7 percent versus the last season.
