In 2021, the average cost per hospital stay of employee basic medical insurance program participants in China amounted to almost 13,000 yuan. Although the gap is becoming narrower, the differences in treatment quality and reimbursement rates between employee basic medical insurance participants and people covered by the urban and rural resident basic medical insurance program remained substantial.
