Monthly number of CCPA filings 2020-2023
In February 2023, five lawsuit cases in the United States cited the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). In January 2020, when CCPA became effective, there was one such case. The number of filings had increased since then, reaching its peak in August 2021, when 17 new cases nationwide mentioned the legislation. The CCPA was the first legal document in the United States that gave consumers a private right of action regarding privacy and data protection.
