In 2021, the value of green bonds issued by large state-owned commercial banks in China amounted to 80 billion yuan, followed by city-level commercial banks with 70 billion yuan. The Chinese government had pushed the development of green financial products in recent years to support its climate strategy. In recent years, state-owned entities had been the leading force behind the growth of sustainable investment vehicles.
