In 2023, a survey found that the biggest challenge preventing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Africa from using or buying software as a service (SaaS) was the cost. Indeed, 27 percent of businesses cited high license fees as the largest barrier. The second leading issue was the lack of local support firms received in adopting and implementing SaaS.
