Opinion on family code reforms based on Islamic law in Morocco 2022
According to a survey conducted in 2022, around 60 percent of the Moroccan respondents agreed that reforms of the family code should be based on the Islamic law or the Sharia. In contrast, around 38 percent of the surveyed population believed such reforms should be only based on international agreements. Morocco's most recent family code was established in 2004 and aimed to improve women's rights in the country.
