The Arab African International Bank in Egypt had the highest capital adequacy ratio (CAR) among the top banks in the country. As of December 2020, the bank had a CAR of 14 percent. On the other hand, the National Bank of Egypt had the lowest CAR at four percent as of June 2021.
The capital adequacy ratio (CAR) is used to assess if a bank has enough capital to cover its risk and liabilities without becoming insolvent.
