Cost per employee and growth rate of construction labor costs in Spain 2010-2022

Construction wages and salaries in Spain increased by over seven percent in 2022. According to the latest figures, the annual labor costs amounted to roughly 33,300 euros per employee in 2020. However, labor costs increased in 2022. In 2020, Norway was one of the countries with the highest construction labor costs in Europe.

The personnel costs per employee were directly obtained from Eurostat, while the year-over-year growth rate was calculated using the quarterly cost index figures. That last indicator was calculated averaging the quarterly data and calculating the annual growth rate.

The time series of the cost per employee was broken in 2018, while the figures for the quarterly cost index were provisional.
