Petrobras' GHG emissions by Scope 2022

The Brazilian oil and gas company Petrobras' Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions were 48 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2022. Meanwhile, the company's Scope 3 emissions were estimated at 438 MtCO₂e. Scope 3 emissions refer to indirect emissions that occur in sources not owned or controlled by a company, such as those related to the use of products delivered to the market. Annually, they have accounted for roughly 90 percent of Petrobras' total value chain emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) since 2015.
