In 2023, the production of agave mezcalero, that is, agave for mezcal, in Mexico reached over 153 thousand metric tons. About 256.5 thousand were produced in the state of Oaxaca. Ranking second was the state of Guanajuato, with over 58 thousand metric tons of mezcal agave produced.
