In a survey conducted in 2023 in Japan, 34 percent of respondents stated that their next vehicle purchase was intended to have a gasoline-powered engine. This was the most common response, narrowly ahead of those who planned to acquire a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) with their next car purchase.
