Kinder Morgan's acquisition of its own publicly traded businesses, as well as (then) Royal Dutch Shell's acquisition of BG Group, were the most valuable oil and gas mergers and acquisition deals since 2000. The deals, which were announced in 2014 and 2015, respectively, were valued at around 70 billion U.S. dollars at the time.
