The capacity of energy storage systems (ESS) newly installed in South Korea in 2022 stood at over 250 megawatt-hours. Most of these were designated for the purpose of peak load shaving. Peak load shaving allows for reduced charges during times of high demand by storing excess generated energy when demand is low.
