The United States and China are the countries with the largest spending on energy infrastructure in the world. In 2024, over 40 percent of the estimated global investment in clean energy sources came from China, largely in renewable energy. Although Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia invested more in fossil fuels than in clean energy, global investments in clean energy were projected to almost double expenditure in fossil fuels that year.
