The charging infrastructure in most German federal states grew substantially between 2017 and 2023, when around 7,300 new charging points were taken into service in Bavaria. In 2023, fewer charging points were activated in North Rhine-Westphalia than in Bavaria, despite North Rhine-Westphalia recording the largest electric car fleet in the country.
