In 2024, the availability and cost of debt was the number one challenge in the global data center investment sector, according to investors. Close to 60 percent of respondents in a January 2024 survey chose this as one of the greatest challenges to their investment strategy. Additionally, 45 percent of respondents perceived the high valuations and intense competition as a major challenge.
