According to a survey conducted in 2023, Americans were most likely to consider teachers and athletes as acceptable participants in peaceful protests, at 75 percent. Scientists and teenagers were also deemed acceptable participants in peaceful protests by 74 percent of respondents. In contrast, only 41 percent of Americans felt that it was acceptable for young children to participate in peaceful protests in that year.
