The output of Chinese copper mining companies has increased tremendously over the last decade. In 2023, Chinese copper mining companies were expected to produce around 3.2 million metric tons of copper, compared to around four million metric tons mined by the three leading global copper mining companies Codelco, Freeport-McMoRan, and BHP. Chinese miners, among them Zijin Mining, CMOC, MMG, and Tongling were estimated to surpass the three leading producers in 2025.
