In a 2023 online survey of Indian journalists, when asked about the extent to which the influence of popular social media trends or hashtags on news content is concerning, approximately 38 percent of respondents indicated that this trend is highly worrisome. In contrast, 12 percent of journalists felt that it is not very concerning.
